ROOTED

College & Career

led by Ryan Morton

Room 402

Currently Studying The Book of 1 Peter.

Life after graduation can be one of the most confusing and important moments in life. This is when many people begin to figure out the direction they take into adulthood. From education, relationships, career and spiritual habits – this is when good or bad habits take hold. Many of the things we all chase, lead to more emptiness. Our goal is to help you become ROOTED in God's Word and grow in a relationship with Christ, while getting to know other 18-22 year old Christians, discovering the “what’s next” in their lives.

Spiritual Legacy of the Family

led by Bro. Donnie Edwards

Sanctuary

This Sunday morning class, led by Bro. Donnie in the sanctuary, is designed for couples who are dating, engaged or married with young children. The focus will be on family and marriage topics, with our first study based on the book by Adrian Rogers titled “Ten Secrets For A Successful Family”. God has blessed us with a wonderful community of couples and families, and it's essential that we equip them with God’s word to help them build spiritual family legacies! Building a spiritual legacy is a life-long endeavor that takes time, effort, & intentionality, but it is one of the most important investments we can make that will reap eternal rewards.

"What does it mean to be like a tree planted by the water (Psalm 1:3; Jeremiah 17:8)?

Trees are frequently mentioned in the Bible and often have significance as a metaphor. In Psalm 1:3, a person who steers clear of the ungodly and delights in God’s Word is like “a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” Likewise, the book of Jeremiah says that those whose confidence is in the LORD are “like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:8).

To be like a tree planted by streams of water is to be one who has a regular supply of nourishment and refreshment. Plants growing near water are easily sustained and can thrive. Water is the ultimate source of life for a tree, so to be planted by water is to have a regular supply of life itself. This means that a tree planted by the water will grow to be strong and sturdy and have a good root system. Also, such a tree will consistently bear fruit, which is one of its primary purposes. Finally, the well-watered tree has the ability to provide shade (and therefore rest) to anyone who is in need.

The simile of a thriving tree is used elsewhere to picture the godly person:
“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, ‘The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him’” (
Psalm 92:12–15).

When we delight in and meditate on the Word of God (i.e., the Bible), as the blessed man does in
Psalm 1, we, too, will be like a tree planted by streams of water. We will be firmly rooted, and Jesus, our ultimate source of life, will bring nourishment and refreshment. We will regularly bear fruit, as Galatians 5:22–23 teaches. And we, as a tree planted by streams of water, will provide shade and rest to others who are burdened or are in need (Galatians 6:210).

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For
my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28–30). It is in giving our burdens to Jesus that we find true rest and, as a result, true strength. As the tree planted by streams of water “does not fear when heat comes” ( and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28–30). It is in giving our burdens to Jesus that we find true rest and, as a result, true strength. As the tree planted by streams of water “does not fear when heat comes” (Jeremiah17:8), so does the one rooted in Jesus have peace when troubles or trials come.

As the leaves of the tree planted by streams of water are always green, so will the one “rooted and grounded in love” always be alive (Ephesians 3:17, ESV)."

THE ROCK CLASS

led by Robbie Hines

Room 403

Currently studying the book entitled, "Kingdom Kindness: A movement to bring calm to the culture" By Tony Evans.

Become Part of a Counterculture of Kindness!

Selfishness, pride, and hostility dominate the headlines, social media, and everyday interactions. But what if every Christian did one simple act of kindness each week? What if you could spark a revolution just by bringing someone a meal, offering to carry someone's groceries, or sharing an encouraging word? Or maybe just by listening respectfully to someone you disagree with!

With rousing encouragement and biblical insight, Dr. Tony Evans shows how, when we let the kindness of God change us, we can change the world. Through real-life examples and practical teaching, he empowers each of us to

· choose honor over hate
· recognize everyday opportunities to spread God's love
· discover the courage to step out in kindness

Kindness is catching. It's time to let God's love ignite a countercultural movement that overcomes evil with good.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CLASS

Room 404

Currently Studying "Different Methods of Studying God's Word"

FOUNDATION LADIES CLASS

led by MaryAnn Resecker

Room 401

Currently studying the book entitled, "I Surrender All" by Paula Shirer.

To follow Him not just as your Savior but as your priority, your first love, your Lord. To move beyond being a believer to becoming His disciple.

Because there is a difference.

Salvation is a gift of God. It’s free. It’s grace. It’s the cross. Discipleship comes at a high cost. It’s surrender. It’s effort. It’s a daily choice to lay down your life and follow His. Few believers choose this route, but the ones who do will experience the abundance that only the surrendered life can offer. It’s the one choice standing between you and the life of freedom and fulfillment, of peace and purpose you’ve always wanted.
I Surrender All is all about making that choice.

The choice that changes everything.

This book will be impossible to simply read because it beckons you to make a decision about the kind of Christian you will be. Prepare to engage, to write, to pray, and be called into a surrendered life. An abundant life. A disciple’s life.

SAINTS CLASS

led by Art Lamon

Room 205

Currently studying "Victory in Spiritual Warfare" by Tony Evans

In this timely, unique exploration of spiritual warfare, Dr. Evans unveils a simple yet radical truth: every struggle and conflict faced in the physical realm has its root in the spiritual realm.

With passion and clarity, Dr. Evans demystifies spiritual warfare so that readers can tackle challenges and obstacles with spiritual power—God’s authority—as they:

  • understand how the battle is fought by Satan
  • actively use the armor of God
  • find strength in prayer and sufficiency in Christ
  • win over chemical, sexual, emotional, relational, and other strongholds

Dr. Evans is compelling, down to earth, and excited for believers to experience their victory in Christ and embrace the life, hope, and purpose God has for them.
